I had my "almost 36 week" check up today and everything is going great. I found out that I am 1 pound heavier than I was when I found out I had gestational diabetes at 29 weeks. This is due to the weight loss I experienced at first and the few pounds I've put back on since then. One pound overall in about 7 weeks isn't bad. I was worried about how in the world my baby was gaining weight if that was the case, but my midwife eased all my worries by talking about how much he'd grown when she measured my stomach and felt around. Based on her "calculations" he weighs about 5 lbs and 13 oz right now. She said that she didn't expect me to have over a 6 lb 14 oz baby. Remember, our last ultrasound projected about 7.5 pounds, so we will see! I am still not dialated at all but my cervix is softening and Patti said the baby had dropped really low. She even said "wow, he's low" when she did my exam and I could tell that she didn't have to "go as far" as they did last time. She told me she didn't think I'd make it to 40 weeks...but I know that many others have been told something and gone PAST their due date.
I asked about whether they induce their diabetes patients and she said that they don't just do it as a standard but that if I am 38 weeks, my cervix is favorable and I'm miserable she would be willing to do it. I told her I'd see how things go...
Today at work I had a great treat! My team (other Spe. Ed. teachers) all broke into groups and brought me a present each hour. At first I didn't know what was going on when two teachers brought me a vase of flowers and a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure. I just thought they were being really nice. Then an hour later, three more teachers sent me a package via students with two beautiful gowns in it. The next hour I got a gift card from two other teachers to Applebee's and I knew something was up at this point. An hour later I got a candle and candy to enjoy after Walker's arrival from one of the teachers who works in my room. The next hour, a McDonalds gift card from my parapro who knows just how much I miss eating McDonalds...she hears about it everyday. The last hour I got a gift card to Ruby Tuesday from the teacher I share a room with. Talk about being SPOILED ROTTEN. It was awesome. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful team!
I'll update again after our ultrasound appointment with the specialist on Friday. :)

Hey! I just wanted to say I have been keeping up with you and baby on your blog. I hope all is well! Enjoy these last days/weeks. They may not be the most comfortable but they are the best!
It will only be a few more days until you are holding that precious child in your hands wondering why God blessed you with such a beautiful thing --- nothing can describe it. :)
Take care and we are thinking about you!
