I had my 34 week check-up yesterday and they did the infamous internal exam. The "good" news is that I am not dialated at all and am not effaced. A few weeks from now I won't consider this good news but I'm glad he's continuing to bake in there.
I'd been having some very strong pains/cramps/maybe contractions for a few days there and thought maybe something was happening. But after being checked out and having my urine sample tested, it was determined that I was dehydrated and that was what was causing the cramping. I've been drinking lots more since yesterday.
The weirdest thing ever is knowing that someone is touching your baby's head...while the baby is still in your belly! But, I have to admit I was jealous. I want to touch his sweet little head. Don't worry, I won't attempt this! Evidently my cervix is posterior which basically means she felt his bulging head before she could feel my cervix. This was the second verbal indication I have gotten from a professional that labor might be long and hard for me. Oh the joys...
I can't believe there are only 6 weeks left until my due date! We have 3 more showers to go and lots to get done. I STILL haven't packed my hospital bag! I plan to do that this weekend...really, this time.
My mom was such a blessing this week! Last week when she came to clean our house she got s frustrated with our vacuums. We have two. One's a hand-me-down from Cliff's mom that at one point was very nice, but now is just old and tired. The other is a Dirt Devil we bought when we got married. For whatever reason we don't have good luck with vacuums. Both of them randomly cut off and a light comes on indicating they are overheated. We can't figure this out. Who does this happen to?? Mom knew I was most likely going to be soon purchasing a new vacuum. She emailed me the other day to inform me that becoming a Grandmother has taken her over and she just sits around trying to think of what she can buy us next. You guessed it, she picked a vacuum...but not just any vacuum. A vacuum with a "hush" setting so that I can vacuum while Walker's sleeping. (Yeah right...I hate to vacuum!) But, how sweet and thoughtful was that?? I can't wait to get it and try it out.
We have decided on Grandparent names for everyone. Cliff's parents haven't been informed yet but their's was kind of a given because they already have Bailey.
Carolyn-Grandmomma
Billy-Granddaddy
Mom-Mimi
Barry-Grandpa
Kathy-Grammy
Dad-Pops
How cute are those names?? I'm so excited! Well, it's off to napville before I head out bowling with the youth group. (No, I'm not lifting a bowling ball...just watching!)
