Coupons

This is a non-Walker related post, but I am excited and wanted to post. A few months back, I decided I was going to start being a coupon clipping kind of mama...but shortly thereafter got discouraged with how time consuming it was. (In case there was a question, I just don't have a lot of free time...)

A few weeks ago though, Angie started talking about it and it got me motivated to really put some energy into it. So, she sat down and kind of "taught" me what to do, and I've since found a system that works best for me...

So, this weekend was my first trip to the store to buy groceries & household supplies and SAVE money! (Had to wait until payday, ya know...) With our income dropping what seems like daily as teachers...and we have taken a MAJOR cut to our pay this year, with even more to come in the next year, saving money is the name of our game right now!

I was beyond thrilled to watch the numbers go down and down as she scanned in my coupons. I saved a grand total of $48.44. Even more exciting though, is that I got a FULL month's worth of groceries, cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc for $196.29. Do you even know how great that is??? On that type of stuff, we typically spend around $400 if not more, per month...

How did I do it? Well, I only bought things that were already on sale...and I tried best as I could to plan my meals around what I had coupons for. That didn't work out as well as I'd hoped since most of the coupons weren't for "main course" types of things, but there were several things that Kroger had on sale or either 10 for $10 that I also had coupons for, so I got them for next to NOTHING. It was WONDERFUL!

The time spent is definitely worth the rewards. I think as I build up my supply, I won't have to spend as much time organizing it all. I'm definitely addicted. :)
