It used to be that Cliff and I could trade off at bedtime. One of us would put Walker to bed, and the other would start on the nightly chores. Things have changed. Walker has "taken" to this concept that more is better. :) He now asks (ever so politely, I might add) that we all go into his room together at bedtime for story, prayers, hugs and kisses. Whichever one of us gets there first is instructed NOT to start reading the story until we are all in there. Then he makes a comment that goes something like this "now all of us are together." He loves for all of us to be together...and quite frankly, so do I.
Family values are SO important to us both-we make it our priority to make family our priority. We couldn't be more happy that the importance of it in our lives and our decisions is already rubbing off on Walker...and honestly, this is one of those times when I feel "successful" as a parent. :)
We all have to get up in Walker's bed, and snuggle as we read. I love this moment. I think about this moment several times throughout my day. To me, this moment is pure bliss.
Tonight, we read our story and got ready to say our prayers. Cliff made his prayer requests, then me, then Walker. Walker asked us to thank God for rain and Thomas, in that order. So...we did. :) I love the things he comes up with. Sometimes they just crack me up, and sometimes they are so sweet...like when he asks God to make George better really soon. (sidenote-he also asks about George alot and how he's doing...I love that my child is so caring of others)
After prayers, he sweetly let me know that I could go now and that he wanted Daddy. (Daddy didn't stay) He's SUCH a Daddy's boy right now. This is a change from how he was when he was younger, though I have been warned my multiple moms of boys that it would happen soon. It's been an adjustment, but a wise and older friend told me that I want the kind of boy who can relate more to his father...and when I think about it like that, I guess I do!
I love, love, love that I am still the only one that will REALLY do when we happen upon a boo-boo, or he isn't feeling well. ...Or when he wakes up cranky... But, I also love to watch him and his Daddy playing (err...wrestling) all over the living room floor. Among other things they do. All in all, he'd take either of us-and especially if we are 3-all of us together. He likes to get in the middle of our hugs and kisses and always asks for a kissy sandwich when he sees us being affectionate. Then he says something about all of us together are a happy family. He's so very right!
