Snowcation!

We have had an excellent week. A little gift from God...
We got snowed in at my Dad's house, as tradition would have it. We thought we'd be going for a night and Cliff laughed at all the "extras" I packed. Turns out, they came in handy as we couldn't even think about coming home sooner than Wednesday. Though we wouldn't have.

Here is our little family right when it started snowing on Sunday. This was about the most "snow" we actually got...we had so much more ice.
One of the things we like to do is go on a tractor ride and this year was no exception. This was the first tractor ride Walker has been able to go on in the snow and he was so excited, he could hardly stand himself!
Here is our little family taking our traditional family snow picture!

Gi-Gi was super nice (as always) and let Walker ride in her lap on the tractor ride. There was a chair reserved for Mommy. I was treated like a princess by all this week...everyone was so worried I'd get hurt in the snow. But, I wasn't about to not get out and enjoy it!
We rode the tractor to Judy's pasture and tried to sledding. Sledding went well and was fun even though the grass was a little high in the pasture. Little did we know that the freeze over that was to come would produce much better sledding right in Dad's yard! Cliff and Walker tried to make snow angels, to no avail. Cliff had to beat into the snow to get it to make indentions. Poor Walker didn't stand a chance.
Walker was super excited to get back outside after his nap on Monday!
My love and I...
Walker had a great time sledding on ice in Poppy's front yard. There's a slight slant to the yard, but he's just the perfect size for sledding. Eventually we moved to the steeper hill in the backyard and the steep double hills on the side yard.
All day Monday Walker talked about racing Gi-Gi on the sled Tuesday. As soon as she woke up Tuesday morning he was reminding her it was race day!
Cory & Donald pushed...Cliff stood at the bottom to help stop Walker...and I took pictures. :)
Walker and Gi-Gi decided to co-sled a few times which was just hilarious.

Walker didn't quite make it down hill number 2 on the side yard this time.... :)
And of course, no snowcation is complete without a ride on the 4-wheeler!
Cliff did some other daring things on Monday during Walker's nap. He and the rest of the guys walked up the street to our friend Bryan's and went "sledding" in a half-canoe tied to a 4-wheeler. Walker and I walked up to see it after his nap...quite entertaining!
We had such a great time in the snow. We wish we could have made a snowman, but it just wasn't possible in this kind of snice. :) This has been my very favorite snow-in ever. Walker is at a very fun age, and our family really enjoyed one another. It was a nice treat to have so many days off from work this week and to invest in family making memories. We enjoyed our time together as an extended family and also enjoyed some special memories and playtime as a family of 3. (soon to be 4!)
When we got home today, our entire yard and driveway were iced over. There hadn't been anyone playing in it all week and it was crazy slippery. Cliff slipped as soon as he got out. I've been walking all over ice and snow at my parents house, but Cliff immediately instructed me to not move. Walker crawled/slid on his belly to the front door. He had so much fun he did it again a few times. He stood up and crashed and burned...he was having a blast. Probably not our finest moment as parents, but we let him do it. You only live once...and you have storms like this almost never! He'll remember this forever. :) Cliff went in the house, after he skated down the yard and got a card table and rope to pull in me on. It was hilarious, and of course Walker wanted to ride too.
In the next few days, I will try to post some videos of our snowcation!
