Go, Eagles, Go!!

Walker attended his first highschool football game this evening! He's been to the Veteran's games before, but that's a whole different ballgame (pardon the pun) because it's middle school football. He LOVED every minute of the game...he was so very interested in the football players running on the field, in the band that was RIGHT beside us and he LOVED the flags and instruments all over the field during half time. He had a blast!! The first picture shows him watching the halftime show that Aunt Red helps orchestrate. He was so proud for her! He said "OOOH" in a scratchy, deep voice...the one that means he's really excited, all through the show. Notice the empty stands in the background...that's where the band sits.

See how close we were to the band? Walker LOVED it and danced along to the music. Here he is with Daddy, he's got his game face on!
When Eastside scores, the cheerleaders throw footballs. This football almost reamed Walker in the head. Thank goodness for Uncle Cory's sharp eye and fast hands. Walker got to keep the ball as a souvenir. Walker and I left after halftime because it was a few minutes past his normal bedtime and he was winding down. He had a great time though and can't wait to go back!
So, remember a while back when I posted about him getting his own washcloth out when we ask him if he's ready for a bath? (This was back in his crawling days...) Here's proof! :) Notice how he pulled lots of other things out of the cabinet first, though...

We have a bath routine that we've done as long as he's been getting baths...I bathe him (for the most part) and we call Cliff in when we are done. He gets the towel ready and I hand Walker over to him. Walker loves this for some reason...he grins so big, everytime.
Usually it goes something like this: Me-"bye, bye water..." Walker-looks at drain and tries to pull it out...
Well, lately he's been letting me know when he's ready to get out by pulling on the drain. He still can't quite get it out...it suctions hard. Well, last night he stood up in the tub with his little naked self and screamed "DAAAAADAAAA!" (which is how I normally call Cliff into the bathroom) and he did it twice. Of course, Cliff came instantly. Who could ignore that? When he walked in, Walker reached down and tried to release the drain, to no avail. So, he reached over, grabbed my shirt, pulled himself and I kid you not, he threw his little leg over the side of the tub and pulled himself out using only my shirt as an anchor. Then, reached for Cliff as if this was the new "normal" way of doing things. So, Cliff wrapped him in the towel and off they went...full of giggles.

He is throwing alot in the trash these days...Wednesday alone, I found our kitchen strainer, 3 clean diapers, a book and the remote all in or beside the trash can. Thankfully the remote had only been thrown over the fence and BESIDE the trashcan. Otherwise, I don't know we would have ever realized it, because it's black like the trash bags...
Judy is so funny. Sometimes I feel like I'm updating this blog through her words...I'm so thankful she's so amazed by Walker because I feel like I get to know so much of what he does while I am gone. When she got here this morning, she was still talking about something he did yesterday and she said "It makes you feel kinda weird that he's so smart and is doing & understanding all these things that he looks too little to do."
Mom came and kept Walker this afternoon so I could go to a baby shower for one of my Fairview friends. She said that Judy told her that she could not get over how smart Walker is. That means alot to me because Judy has been around more kids than anyone I know. She's spent her life as an educator and kept kids (Walker's age) in between...including Stephen and Cory. So, I guess Walker will be smarter than his uncles!! :)
Walker was watching Blue's Clue's the other day and the weather got bad. Judy turned the channel to see if she could figure out what was going on. She said he started crying and looking at her mean. She thought surely he couldn't be "mad" about the tv, but when she changed it back he started smiling and was fine. We have one strong willed child who is not shy at all about letting you know what he wants.
I wish you could all see how Walker reacts to Cliff. He is so much a Daddy's boy while being such a Mama's boy too. He's ALL about Cliff when it comes to play time though. When Cliff comes home, Walker runs to him full speed ahead and just plows into him. Cliff is always on his hands and knees waiting on this. Walker throws his arms around him and just loves on him and giggles, and then the rough play begins. This is the moment every single day I remember that I am totally, completely, 100% outnumbered in this home!
