A post that is all over the place, like Walker!

We go outside every day when I get home. He walks all over the yard and sometimes sits to play with rocks and such...(he also goes out about 4 times a day with Judy...the kid LOVES the outside!)

He's obsessed with walking into the "jungle" (aka bushes) on the side of our house. Forbidden fruit.

Cousin Lori gave him this to practice his walking. He's "driving a car" and thinks it's hilarious. The tag said 24 months, but since he's a walking pro now I decided to pull it out today. He loved it.

A stool by any other name, is still a stool...unless you are Walker. This is one of his FAVORITE toys right now. He spends lots of time climbing in and out, in and out...

I've wised up and only load/unload the dishwasher when he's in bed...except the other day and this is where I found him when I turned back around from putting the last dish in the cabinet. He was handing me the basket.

We had a good weekend. Friday night we had a nice family night at home...we live for our Friday nights together. Very early Saturday morning, Aunt Christie (Cliff's sister) came to our house and Cliff and I left to go white water rafting with some friends from our Sunday School class.

We had a great time on the trip and I managed to NOT fall in...although I did manage to thoroughly embarrass my husband...which I might add, is VERY hard to do. Everyone else in the class thought it was HILARIOUS that I opted to pee in 3 inches of water rather than go waist deep. (IT WAS TOO COLD!) Cliff on the other hand didn't see the humor in the whole situation and deemed my choice "white trash-like..." Ha ha ha ha ha.

Aunt Christie and Walker had a good 'ole time while we were gone. They played at the park with Cindy and Dalton (some friends of Aunt Christie's) and also went shopping with Grandmommy and got Walker some new things. (Mommy was happy about that part!)

We didn't get to see Walker awake that day because we left before he was up and didn't get home until he was asleep but I know he really enjoyed his time playing with Aunt Christie...and he especially liked it when Uncle Marshall came to visit too!

Now...for a quick update on Walker. He continues to understand more and more, but since I've overloaded posts with all the new information he's acquired, I'll spare you this time. (Besides, those of you who have more than 1 kid think "Oh my goodness...this is SO normal, her kid is NOT extraordinary...) He he.

He's learned that he can decide what he wants to eat. His snack of choice lately has been whole wheat ritz crackers and he's refused almost anything else at snack time. He actually throws his Mum-mums (a past favorite) at you. Well today I offered him the ritz and snack and you know what he did??? He shook his head no at me! Then he pushed them away. Where DOES he get these things?? He wanted puffs, that was clear...so that's what he got. (You choose your battles, right?)

Yesterday he was drinking away on his sippy full of water after eating his Ritz and he decided it would be funny to start spouting it out of his mouth in "whale fashion..." Well, I did not find this humerous and decided to scold him. I'm learning about these teaching moments and believing more and more that he's a little advanced in the thinking department and can tolerate a little mroe discipline than most normal "almost 11 month olds..." Despite my stern mommy/teacher voice telling him "no sir, we don't do that..." he grinned as big as he could. When he got a not so happy face back from me, he proceeded to give me the meanest face I've ever seen him make and then slam his cup down on his tray and go "UHNNN!" I can't imagine where he got this temper from. Can you??? :)

We really will have our hands full the way he is testing his limits so much already. Should be fun. More than once, someone has suggested we go ahead and start popping his hand...and these aren't people who are overstepping their bounds, they are people who know Walker well and know how manipulative he is. (That word sounds so "bad" but I mean it in the cutest way possible...)

He's been walking for several weeks now and is only getting faster and faster. More recently, he's learned to squat down, pick something up and stand back up. He's just started doing this. Ava did this LONG before either of them were walking, but he's just started. Just goes to show how different they can all be. Anyway, there's no stopping him now. As if he wasn't all over the place, now he hardly falls...so there is no slowing him down.

My favorite news to report is that he can now say MAMA!! He walks around saying it and runs towards me saying "MAMAMAMAMAMAMA." Music to my ears!!

Another favorite is that today while we were watching Blue's Clues, he copied the hand motions that Steve (old school episodes) does when he says "Blue's Clues." If you have children, you know the one. Palms up and facing out, open...shut...very fast. :) He did this all throughout the episode and laughed when Steve did it too. Crazy kid.

Now for an update on us...
I'm going to try and do this part more often. Cliff is in football mode...the season starts soon and he's excited. We can't wait to go and cheer on the General's! He's enjoying his school year so far and continuing to strive day after day to be a better teacher. He has decided to teach our Sunday School class for another year and is extremely excited about continuing to lead out in that area as well.
I'm enjoying my job. There are definite pros and cons to co-teaching all day. For the most part, I've loved it. Today I had a day where I wished I was teaching Resource so I could do my own thing, my own way...but, it's not always about what I want. :) I started Girl's Discipleship tonight at church. I'm going to be a part of a group of mentors working with teenage girls. I'm very excited to jump back into this ministry, as I've pretty much be missing in action in that area since having Walker. Tonight was great. I'm excited about working with the girls, growing closer to some of my friends who are doing it and also just learning more about who God wants me to be.

And, finally...just a short video of a few minutes in the life of Walker. Kind of a calm few minutes, but I wanted to post some footage of him walking.
