Wow! I am behind. But, it's 4:05 a.m. on a Thursday night and I haven't been asleep yet, so what better time to play a little blog catch up?
We had a busy summer! We spent our hot days having lots of fun!
One of the things we were blessed to do this summer was take a mini vacation at Cliff's Uncle Nick and Aunt Sue's lake house with Grandmommy and Granddaddy. We had a BLAST! We spent a few days being lazy, fishing, boat riding, and just having a nice time!
One day while most everyone napped, Walker and I hung out on the dock together. This was one of the highlights of my summer. We had the BEST time. I know nothing about fishing and I certainly don't "do" worms. But this little man wanted to fish, and this mama didn't want to disappoint. So, I baited, I'd say on the safe side, five to six worms for him this day. We'd drop the fishing line just off the dock onto the bottom of the lake where we could see tiny fish swimming around their nest, in an attempt to catch "the" fish who kept stealing our worm right from under our very eyes! We'd watch it happen each time, yell at the fish as if he could understand us...or as if he even cared, then reluctantly wait on the inevitable. And time after time, it happened. But finally, after much effort, this non-fishing mama and her precious boy caught this small thing. And believe it or not, he was MUCH bigger than the one we were actually going for!!
The boys enjoyed their time on the boat. Will thought the boat ride was pretty cool for his first time, and he especially enjoyed seeing the ducks. He said duck all the way back across the lake and any other time we were on the water!
Aside from fishing, Walker's favorite part of this trip was playing in the hot tub. Aunt and Uncle turned down the temp so it was suitable as a swimming pool for the little ones. This picture was taken around 8 a.m. one morning. I love the sun rays coming through. :) He lived in the hot tub while we were there!
One day the men (Grandaddy, Daddy, Uncle Nick and Walker) went out to catch our dinner. Walker caught the first (and largest!) fish of the day!! And they'd only been gone about 20 minutes when he did. He's such a fisherman. He caught this fish totally unassisted. True story.
A day or so into our trip, Cliff's cousin Brandi and her family joined us at the lake. The boys enjoyed spending time with their cousin Max. At one point we tried to explain to Walker that Max was his second cousin. Walker replied that Max couldn't be his second cousin he had to be his third. When I inquired why, he responded that he already had two cousins. John David was his first and Iz was his second... HA! I guess cousins are numbered by the order in which they become playmates. I thought it was cute and in a four year old's mind, could see how it made perfect sense. All I could do was laugh.
We had a great time and are so appreciative to Aunt Sue and Uncle Nick for inviting us to come and stay with them!!
