Another exciting thing we got to do this summer was visit Stephen & Crystal in New Orleans for a long weekend. We had such a good time!! We traveled with Cor-Cor and Gi-Gi late on a Thursday evening and arrived in NOLA around midnight. Walker fell asleep about twenty minutes from their apartment, but managed to stay awake the rest of the trip. I can't say enough about what a grown boy he was the entire trip. He was just the most fun to be around and was on his very best big boy behavior. This trip we took without Will because we knew it would be a whirlwind trip with a very long drive. Though we missed Will, it was confirmed to us many times that we made the right choice. Walker is big enough to keep up with the fast pace we had to maintain to get in everything S and C wanted us to do and see. Will, not so much.
I will go ahead and apologize for the switch between iphone pics and pics from my camera here-you'll see a difference in quality.

This is a random picture, but such a fun memory. We were all being lazy our first morning there. Walker and Gi-Gi were playing something on the Wii and Walker had just slammed her in his best four year old language. I believe it was something like "you are such a LOOOOOSER Gi-Gi..." But whatever it was, it had us all rolling, and I caught it in a picture. :)
While there, S and C took us to lots of their favorite restaurants and places.
Angie and I were really excited about visiting the two story Target Crystal has told us about. But, it was Walker who enjoyed it the most. He thought this escalator for both man and cart was too cool. It was. :) We rode it several times!
Eventually we decided to trade in our Target fun for something a little more touristy, and we visited an amusement park at City Park and a place called Story Land. Story Land was really neat. I wish I'd taken more pics!
On July 4, we ate at a yummy NOLA place and then rode the street car downtown to watch the fireworks show. It was a great show! It was rated one of the top 5 must see firework shows in America, and I am so glad we saw it! We also really enjoyed riding the streetcar...maybe not so much the adventure we had actually getting on a streetcar after the show. But, we have a good memory there!
No trip to New Orleans is complete without a stop at Cafe Du Monde. Last time (when we moved them there) we ate at the one in the French Quarter. We decided to skip out on the French Quarter this visit and just hit up the one in the mall. SOOOOO stinkin' good!
We spent some time at the pool at the seminary where S and C live...and had the BEST afternoon there, just enjoying time playing with Walker in the pool and relaxing.
On our last night there we stumbled (by way of GPS) on this!!! A hot donuts now sign!!
Walker frequents our Dunkin donuts, but never has he been inside a Krispy Kreme, so this was a treat. He quite enjoyed watching the donuts be made. He was so excited to watch, he didn't eat!! As for the adults, well, they were handing out free hot donuts when we walked in. So we most definitely ate!
We had an absolute great time in New Orleans visiting S and C! We miss them so much, but are thankful for the time we had! It wore at least one of us out...
