Digging For Worms

Today we went digging for worms. It's what Walker told me he wanted to do when I came home. I used a leave early pass today, and came home a few minutes sooner than normal, so that I'd have a long time to play outside with Walker on this beautiful (windy) afternoon. (hence the hat).
He was so precious. First, we went for a walk around the neighborhood to see if Holly & "Derrig" (actually Gehrig) were home...they weren't, much to Walker's disappointment. He said "awwww (all long and drawn out like that) why can't we just go to their house?" and I tried my best to explain to him that only Gehrig's daddy's car was in the driveway, and we couldn't go over if Gehrig's mommy's car wasn't in the driveway. :) Yeah, he totally didn't buy it. He'd hold his hands up in front of his face in cup fashion and say "but WHY, mommy?"
Then we went digging for worms...for over an hour! We found two. At one point, I was just sitting, watching, hoping my lack of worm digging wouldn't be noticed and he said "You have to keep your eyes open for them mommy, now DIG!" Ah ha. So, I did. Then I stopped for another few minutes to text Jenny and he said "Mommy! You are NOT digging! Dig or we will never find them!" He seriously cracks me up. :) We found two-he held them both, but not long enough for me to get a picture on my phone, so I opted for one with the worm in the shovel.
I don't like bugs, by the way...in case that's news to anyone. Bugs seriously disturb me. But, my child causes me to be brave, and that amazes me. He challenges me in ways that no one else on this planet has, and I love growing and learning from his little soul.
