Potty Tales & Love Stories

The biggest news in our family right now is that Cory & Angie are now ENGAGED!! The big event took place today, on their 2 year dating anniversary. Angie is already part of the family, so that part won't change, but this is very exciting! We look forward to all that God has in store for them as we "officially" welcome her into the family. And...I'm thankful that God has planned sisters for my adult life, since I was so wonderfully blessed with brothers for my life so far! My sisters are such a blessing!

The other big news this week is that Walker went poo poo in the potty! I think this happened Monday. He got out of the bath and I was about to dress him for bed when he started grunting, so I said "Do you want to go potty?" and he said "yeah, yeah!" So we went and he sat, and sat, and sat...forward facing. (The new seat reducer does wonders for his attention span on the potty because he likes to point & talk about all the pictures. The skateboard is "car" but pretty much everything else, he's got down...) I decided he wasn't going to do anything, so I took him back to get dressed and he pooted. (loudly). So, I asked again and he said "yeah, yeah" again...so off he ran to the potty. This time I sat him backwards and handed him a sealed baby wash bottle. He's infatuated with getting the seal off. One day, he will. It kept him busy for about 10 minutes or so and nothing happened, so I was just about to take him off and we hear "plop!" So, of course we make a HUGE deal, clapping, cheering, etc...and he starts doing the same and kicking those little legs like crazy. Cliff ran to get the camera and so we snapped some pics. Then more came! It was a very exciting event.
~I'm ashamed to say I haven't even attempted to put him back on the potty since that night...nor have I encouraged it...~ (it's been a busy & weird week...) Also, I told Heather I was considering blogging about this but that it felt weird. She said it was completely fine...so if this grosses you out, blame her!

The greeting I get when I walk in the door from work, makes me get out of bed and go to work! He runs to me with his arms wide open and grinning from ear to ear. He proclaims "mama!" and throws his arms around me when I squat. Hands down, my favorite part of the day. I love being loved in that way. He's my boy!
(the other day, Gi-Gi was with me and SHE got that welcome instead of me. What's up with THAT??? :)
He's really growing up. The other afternoon I had my hands full, plus him. I literally didn't have a hand for him, so I took him out of the car and told him to stand still by mommy. Which, he did. Then when I got everything out, I told him to go straight to the door, which he did. Amazing. Typically, the second he's out of the car, he's OFF to who knows where and the race is on! (this is one of the many downsides to not having a garage!) I was very impressed with his following directions skills. He waited right at the front door like I told him too. :) Such a good boy...

I had planned to blog about how well-mannered and disciplined he'd been lately, but the events of yesterday & today have changed that. :) So, I'll have to work myself back into that mindset. Ha ha. Stay tuned...I'm sure that child will return. The Bible tells me so!!
Two girls (Brinley & Katelyn) got in a fight over him at church Wednesday night. They literally had an argument over who loved him more. They also got in a little trouble by their moms. It was SO cute, if you ask me. My little ladykiller. This was especially funny because Katelyn is never really around Walker...so he must be a good lookin little thing to have her fighting over him already!!
He's in love with Brinley Doss. Plain and simple, and anyone can see it. He runs around asking for her. Her name changes daily, but lately it's been "Ben-yay" and that's what he says when you ask who he loves. However, everytime we asked him who his girlfriend was, he replied "car." Hmmm...it will take a special girl. :)
He has a new favorite book. He's had it his entire life, but has just recently taken to it. It just has pictures with their word under them. Car, boat, sun, cloud, cheese, etc. He's naming them all and we get to the one with a cake. He says "cake!" and then proceeds to move his head from left to right while "blowing out the candles..." So cute. Judy MUST have shown him this. I just don't think to do things like that. It "blew" my mind. Ha!
He flushed a toy down the toilet. Two actually. I reached in and caught the 1st but the 2nd made it down. I was fixing my hair and he walked over to the toilet, dropped them in, and flushed before I could even flinch. He's so fast! So, our toilet is now clogged and out of commission. Cliff tried to fix it...the toy is beyond our reach...so, a plumber is coming. We even went and bought a "snake" and that didn't get the job done. You should have seen Cliff & Cory trying though!! (my dad said just to lift up the toilet off the ground, but ours is "pasted" down and not just screwed down...SO, that won't work!)
He still continues to be one affectionate little thing. He is constantly kissing and hugging on us. He isn't shy about sharing his kisses these days either. He likes to have a million kisses before his bed and nap. Of course, I don't mind one bit!
There were so many more things I wanted to post about this week, but if I don't do it when it happens...I forget. This aggravates me SO much. I have such a terrible memory! Maybe they will come to me. Until then, goodnight!

I know exactly what you mean when you say that entering the house is your favorite part of the day. The smile that is just for you is priceless! And Walker...Way to go potty!

I love it when Jamie poops in the potty.... SOO much easier to clean her little hiney!!! The second she starts grunting we RUN to the potty. She was doing good about peepeeing in the potty for about 3 days, but now when I ask her if she wants to go it's "Nah, Nah" - she doesn't want to stop playing... I need to be more committed to it too. It's tough being a mom! :-)
