Puppy Dog Tails

It was a little over a year ago that we heard the news that we were having a little boy! We knew what we'd heard about little boys...and we knew he'd change our life. What we didn't know was exactly HOW MUCH he'd change our life!

And here he is a year after that moment when we first saw the identifying "object" that confirmed my instincts that I'd soon be VERY out-numbered.

We had a great weekend! Saturday most of the day was spend outdoors...minus the 3 hour nap Walker took and minus the rainstorm we had...
He loves the outdoors! We went for a walk, which was nice for mommy too. It felt great to sweat and feel the wind on my cheeks.

Walker watched out his bedroom window while Daddy cut grass. He got so excited when Daddy came near the window. He'd shriek, laugh and kick. Then he'd hit the glass as Daddy drove away. He'd strain his little neck to see when Daddy went further away, into the ditch. Then when Daddy was done, Walker got a special treat! He LOVED it! I snapped a million pics but Walker wasn't looking at the camera. He was completely mesmerized by the ground "moving" below him. He reached up to grab tree branches, etc...(daddy was going very slow...)

This is what we use the duck tub for now. Walker loves to play with it even more than he loved to bathe in it. We now have it in the living room though b/c as you can see, he dives out of it...and we have enough bumps and bruises on him right now!
He continues to just amaze us every day. Yesterday he learned how to push his bus across the living room and he hasn't stopped. He will stand up and hold onto the handle I use to push him and he just walks it across the living room. Sometimes he will go faster than his feet are capable of and he'll fall flat on his belly, but he gets right back up. Cruising already. Goodness. He's been using the couch and other things to get around for days now but this was the first time he'd actually pushed something clear across the room standing up.
He can manuever his walker around the kitchen to get whatever he wants. (YES, I let him get in a walker...) He will go to the cabinet and open it, he will go to the trash can but we quickly intervene. He will come right to you no matter what his location is. He's figured out how to get where he wants to go. Tonight he chased his puffs around the kitchen. They were on his tray and the container fell off. As he moved the walker, they were pushed and he just kept chasing them. This was quite entertaining. After a little while he got very angry and so we gave them to him. We figured he'd worked hard enough!
I am reluctant to say that his temper is growing. I don't know if you can really call it a temper as much as you can call it being strong willed. He knows what he wants. He knows how to get it.
When he's eating, if I don't put the spoon in fast enough he starts beating his tray and making very loud grumbly noises at me. I am not sure what to do about this. For now, it's cute. (i think).
He fed himself a puff yesterday and was so proud...so now he's able to feed himself finger foods. He did it yesterday and by today he's a pro at it. He's growing up so fast!
His newest obsession is night lights. He loves them. He knows where to find them and he goes after them. Everytime. Period. Needless to say they have all been removed...so if I wake up and go check on him, it's a stumbling match.
He is very inquisitive and wants to know all about Mommy and Daddy's things. Unless it's something that could hurt him, we let him explore. He's learning lots and lots, that's for sure.
I don't know if all little boys are as active as he is, but I am sure they are. He just doesn't stop. I love it.

He is so cute Nicole. I am so glad that you have him to love and enjoy! And honey, I feel your pain on that temper and strong will stuff. He sounds exactly like Logan. It is so similar it is weird! So, thankfully, I'll have plenty of good advice for you as you go through the different stages..... haha!!!
talk to you soon :-)
