I think I've mentioned a time or two that we have a dramatic child. Kathy says "I wonder where he gets THAT from???" I can't figure out for the life of me what she's referring to. :)
Not much to post these days about milestones because everything just seems to be about the verbal & cognitive.
So...here are some of the more recent conversations we've had...
At the doc's office Tuesday:
(phone rings)
Walker (screaming): "I get it mommy, don't worry!"
This of course caused laughter from behind the counter and so everytime the phone rang he erupted. Mind you, we were there because he was SUPPOSED to be sick. (he wasn't as it turns out just the RAD flaring up).
At Poppy & Grammie's house Saturday night (family dinner):
(phone rings)
Walker: "Don't worry everybody, I get it..." (then runs to the phone) "I can't deech it. I too tall." Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. (this of course also caused an eruption of laughter from us all)
-Sorry kid..."too tall" isn't something you are, quite yet!
At the doc's office Tuesday while the lady was double-checking when his 2 year appt was for me:
(lady at computer)
Walker: "I need to check my email, mommy..." AHHH! What have I done to this child???
On the way home from costume shopping tonight, to no avail:
"No direman sam pants. I not happy."
(we DO now have Fireman Sam pants, thank God...)
When we returned from Disney last Friday:
Walker (playing cars or something on the floor): "Oh, I remember. I want to play tackle. Move Daddy. Do it another time. (referring to cars)." We just looked at each other, bewildered. Who knows where this stuff comes from.
He's also prone to using phrases such as: "Oh dear." "Oh boy." "Dat Cool!" "I not happy." "Mommy happy?" "Daddy be mad." (this usually comes if he acts out at Daddy's ballgames or throws things OVER THE FENCE while the game is going on!)
And of course...the dreaded "I poo poo in my diaper. Mommy change it. I stinky." WELL THEN GO IN THE BLASTED TOILET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tonight he wanted to watch Fireman Sam on the computer and I wouldn't let him because he had just finished pitching a FIT about wanting an orange popcicle after he'd already chosen purple. He's really into changing his mind these days... So, he had his purple popcicle thrown in the trash as a result of his behavior. Then, he wanted to watch Fireman Sam and pitched a fit when I said no, so I sent him to time-out (which he went to by himself...impressively...since I've recently discovered after watching Ava march to time-out like a little angel child, that I've never actually made him do, I always place him there...). In time-out he cries major crocodile tears-major! He always wants a hug. So he says tonight "I need to hug you mommy. I am SO sorry." with all the emphasis on "so." Do you know how hard it is to NOT laugh at this??? But, I resisted the hug and told him I'd be happy to hug him when he got out of time out but that right now we weren't hugging and we weren't talking. So of course, he cried louded. He tried to come out and I told him to go back so he did, but the crying got louder. So, louder than him I said "You cannot come out of time-out until you stop crying." AMAZING-did you know you can instantly turn off water works???? Hmmm... So, out of time out he got to come and he got his hug and told me he "dubbed" me. (already knows to charm a mama when he's in trouble...) Then guess what he did??? Asked to watch Fireman Sam on the "puter..." and pitched a fit when I said no. Back to time out we went. :) This time, we learned our lesson.
I was so excited while we were at Disney that he'd carry on real conversations with us on the phone. This just is not something he's been interested in until recently. I actually got to talk to him and hear about what he'd done all day, he asked what we'd done, etc... it was precious! He left me a few voicemails while he was with my mom that I, of course, saved and listened to a few times at night before bed when I knew he was already sleeping. Hey-we had a good time but that doesn't mean I didn't miss the booger! Speaking of Disney...I posted about it just a few minutes ago. Double posts today, so be sure to read below!
