Daddy's Home!

It's been a busy week. I'll have to post pics later...my camera is so backed up, I just get stressed out even thinking about sorting through all the pictures.

Cliff is home (snoozing on the couch now) and we are sooo glad! He's been at World Changers in Savannah with the teenagers from church...I miss my days of going, but I won't say I missed being in the heat doing heavy labor all day. I am thankful for my days spent mostly in the AC with my sweet boy. :) We had a nice celebration dinner at Grammie & Papa's tonight that Cor-Cor, Gi-Gi, Daddy & Poppy were all home again. It was lots of fun!!

Walker sure missed his daddy. I heard Daddy ALOT this week. Made me sooo thankful he was coming home soon. The other night at Heather's I said "I hear Addy" and he screamed "Daddy!" and took off running for the door. I felt sooo bad...I know it hurt his little heart when I said "no baby, not Daddy...Addy." :( Aww...

Just a recap of our week so I don't get too behind... I'll go backwards. :)

Thursday & Friday we visited Chattanooga to see Heather. April and I have gone for the past few summers and always have a blast. The three of us have been friends since elementary school. I met Heather in 1st grade and April in 2nd...and there's just something so special about having friends who know you from that far back. The kids had fun together but they kept us on our toes...especially Walker because he's very much in to everything these days. We decided next year, the kids would stay with their dads and we'd head to the beach for a long weekend! I couldn't believe how wonderfully Walker went to bed at Heather's. This child is never willing to go down before 8:30 but I laid him in the pack-n-play at 7:50 and got in the bed that was beside him. He was out in 15 minutes and I snuck out to have some fun girl-time with my friends. He slept great and didn't wake until the next morning. While there, we played with toys, had Mexican and visited a very cute park called the Pumpkin Patch. I'm already looking forward to next summer!

Wednesday, I spent the day with my sissy. Judy came and kept Walker and Crystal and I traveld to Griffin to see her Dad in the hospital and then out for a fun day of shopping at Tanger Outlets in Locust Grove. I spent wayyyy too much money, dang those sales! It was a great day...and a much needed release. I love my sissy! When I got home, Walker was happy to see me and sad to see Judy go. He put his hands over his eyes and in a fake crying voice said "ohhh....Judy..." and whimpered. When she said "oh Walker, I'll miss you too..." he yanked his hands off his eyes, cracked up laughing hysterically and ran off. We knew he was faking to begin with, but it just blows my mind that he's doing this sort of thing already. Can you say Cliff Roberts??? He just keeps us laughing. I'm a little concerned about the amount of drama that accompanies him. :)

Tuesday night, Stephen & Crystal spent the night with Walker & I. We are scardy cats. We stayed by ourselves 2 nights last year while Cliff was gone. I felt I'd accomplished something major and had nothing left to prove. I'm content being a chicken from here on out...besides, who doesn't love a slumber party??? We had dinner at Mamaw's and then settled in for a fun night of girl talk and Bride Wars. (Stephen played x-box, of course...)

Monday night, Kim and Katie came and spent the night with us. They left Tuesday after lunch but we had lots of fun while they were here! Katie's walking now and it was fun to watch she and Walker interact. Katie's a little tougher than Walker, we determined...but Walker didn't seem to mind. He seemed to enjoy being pushed around by a girl. They had a great time together playing in the new "jumpy", playing in cars, fighting over toys, watching tv, going to the park and going to Chick-fil-a. The cow approached us and both kiddos got scared. Walker latched on to my body like a leech...literally jumped out of his booster seat. He said my name what seemed like 15 million times, right Kim? Just kept hearing mommy over and over. As long as the cow stayed his distance we were fine, and would even wave...but don't even think of coming any closer, Cow! Later that night, we drove through to get an Ice Dream and Walker immediately starts chanting "cow" over and over. He was very concerned. :)

Sunday night we went to Nonnie's house. Jeremy & Josh were both home. Grandpa (now Gumpy) cooked yummy crab legs and we had a water fight with the water hose. We also rode the golf cart with Uncle Josh. He drives very fast! Walker was saying "weeee" down all the hills but my mom said his face looked terrified. :) We had a very fun night with Nonni, Gumpy, Jeremy & Josh!

Saturday is the day Cliff left. After he left, Walker and I played together for a few hours and then he went out for a day with Aunt Christie. I had a shower to give in Madison for my cousin Michelle...then we spent the night at Grammie's Saturday night.

All in all, it was a fun week but we are sooo glad Daddy's home. There's just nothing like having your family complete!

Walker's doing all sorts of talking. Cliff said his verbal skills improved leaps and bounds while he was gone. He's pretty much completely talking in short sentences now...for the most part. Sometimes he will just whine and reach but we're not accepting that behavior anymore-words are a necessity to get what you want! A few things I remember that are "newer" sentences this week are: "Kelli gone home" "Gawker eat chicky" (Gawker=Walker) "Taunk ooo Mommy" & "see Barney moon" (this episode of Barney on tivo where they go to the moon...he's obsessed!)

Potty training isn't improving by leaps and bounds. He still tells me when he has to potty but either he's already gone or is just confused most times. We go every now and again in the potty but he's overall still just not very interested. He does however, ask for candy sometimes when he poops in his diaper. I think he's finally caught on in the past few days that candy is only for potty poops! I'm honestly ok with not having to be real persistant about potty training because it looks like we will be tackling another milestone as of today. He's climbed out of his pack-play at Grammie's twice today and his crib at home 3 times. This was all during our attemps to get him to take a nap. Good grief, I'm just not ready for this. I don't think we're gonna bother with a crib tent. I think we'll aim for the toddler bed at this point...I know he will get out of it too, but at least he won't break his neck in the process. His crib is convertible, so we should have that up and running very soon. Until then, we're making do.

He recognizes the following colors consistently: purple, green, blue, yellow, orange, brown and red. He does best with green, blue and purple. When driving down the road we hear "blue car" "green tree" you get the picture...he's very into adjectives right now. Usually each noun has one that accompanies it these days... The other day we were in the drive-thru at Taco Bell (yes, AGAIN!) and he said "app-ul treeeee" Apple tree, really? It WAS an appletree. It wasn't until last night at Grammie's did I learn where he got that from. There's an appletree on my parents property and he likes to visit it. :) He also constantly points out colors on people's clothing. Aunt Crystal's tie dye shirt is one of his favorites...SO many colors to name!

Grammie started a (bad) habit a long time ago. :) She lets Walker get into certain things on her spice rack...mainly the cinnamon & various sprinkles for cakes, ice cream, etc... He gets to lick his finger and dip. He did it once the other day and she put it away and he said "three?" She always tells him he can have 3 dips and he wasn't about to settle for his one! Thankfully, those special jars of sprinkles have now fully been reserved for Walker and his dipping. :)

I love my sweet boy and these summer days together...but I don't think it makes me a bad mom to say that I do wish (from time to time) that he was a little less mommy-clingy. Mainly for me and my sanity, ha ha...but I hope that as time goes on, I'll have peace & quiet in the bathroom once again. We'll see!

We're off to the lake on Thursday, back for a night and the off to the beach on Monday of next week...so it will be a while before I can update again. Pics soon!
