Staying Busy While Daddy's Gone

Cliff's in Washington, D.C. with the 8th graders from his school. Walker and I have been "traveling" some ourselves. :) We went to Hiawassee on Friday evening to spend the night with Josh, Beth, Layne & Jonas. We both had lots of fun! Walker had a great time playing with Layne (3) and Jonas (11 months). Here is a picture of the boys swinging...

Overall, Walker did great on the ride. Here is one of the ways he entertained himself. He tore his shoes and socks off and put his toes in his mouth. Silly kid. He also danced to "2 Legit to Quit" (I was listening to some old school burned CD's) I'll try and get a video to load...

We built a tent this morning. Every little boy needs a pink tent, right? We had lots of fun playing inside and of course took a minute to pose for a picture or two...or three. :)

This one was taken before our haircuts this afternoon...(yes I said afternoon and we're both still in PJ's)

And this one is after our haircuts, though you can't really tell a difference in my hair in this picture.

We've had lots of fun the past few days but we miss Daddy!! He'll be home tomorrow afternoon but in the meantime, we've done lots of fun things to keep ourselves busy. After we returned from our trip to Hiawassee, we spent the night at Papa & Grammie's where we had lots of fun, as always. Then Sunday afternoon we went to the Easter Egg hunt at church (after another WONDERFUL drop off experience on Sunday morning with Walker in Sunday School). The rain caused the egg hunt to move inside, but it was still great fun. Kids 5 and under hunted on the preschool wing. Walker basically hunted in one classroom, but he got lots of eggs and really enjoyed the game of putting them in his basket. Then he stopped to play some with Bryce. Nonni went to the egg hunt with us and then spent the night last night to keep us from being scared when the moon came out. :) We had lots of fun with Nonni, too!

So, that's what we've done to keep busy. Tonight, Crystal & Angie are spending the night and I'm actually getting to get out for a while and Grammie is going to keep Walker so we can have some girls adult time! Woo hoo!!

Some other cute things that have been going on are...
  • When we are about to turn into our neighborhood, Walker starts yelling "ome" which means "we're home!" and then I slow down as we pass the 4 houses on our side of the road and ask him "Is that Walker's house?" and he says "no" until we get to his house. He's such a little smartie!
  • He's counting to 3 these days...but one and two are kind of hard to decipher. We know what he's doing though, even if no one else does!
  • He likes to say "up up up" if he's climbing, being lifted, basically if he's levitating in any form or fashion... He says it 3 times each time. He also says "back back back" when he's backing his tractor up after he runs into something.
  • He's uses "sentences" lots these days. Some recent ones that come to mind are: "gone gone bubbles," "dada dada bus" (I've been saying Dada is on a bus on a trip), "yawnyore Papa" (lawn mower, Papa), "see (insert name here...whoever he's in the mood to see, usually Brinley)", "eat cacker"
  • He continues to be an excellent helper. He helps me unload the dishwasher every night. He's also a very big helper in the store. He likes to throw the groceries up on the counter when we're ready to pay. He also wanted to help me put them away (of course, I had to go back and rearrange some things when he went to bed!)
  • At one point, I was putting things in the cabinet and I looked and he'd opened a container of Parmesean cheese that we already had...and it was ALL over the kitchen floor!
  • He uses and abuses the word please. He thinks it gets him anything. (and most of the time, it does!)
  • When he's done eating, he asks to get "dow" and then when I unhook his straps on his booster, he sits and hooks them over and over for about 15 minutes. This happens every night. He even did it in Hiawassee with their booster. He gets them hooked and then clasps his hands together and squeals "peease?" and so we unhook them again. He does it so fast now that we do it a million times a meal!
  • He was helping me put clothes in the dryer as I was putting a new load into the washer. I had dropped a shirt on the way to the laundry room and went back to get it and when I did, I found him in the dryer. Silly kid!
  • He is very interested in throwing rocks into puddles...or just rocks & puddles in general, not necessarily having to be combined. He's such a boy!
