Alot has changed since my last post. I can't believe how fast Walker has grown! He is doing so many new and cute things. In the past few weeks he has really started smiling up a storm. He was smiling before but now all you have to do is look in his direction and talk to him and you get an award winning smile. It's the cutest thing ever! He is also really responding to things. He has learned to track objects with his eyes and always follows Mommy across the room if someone else is holding him...with his eyes of course...if he literally "followed" me across the room at this point, I'd be concerned! :) He has a favorite toy. He loves to follow Mr. Red Frog with his eyes while he's in his swing. Mr. Red Frog is the red frog (go figure) on the mobile attached to his swing. He absolutely loves it. He just looks at it for the longest time and will smile and smile at it. They are best buds!
He has had two play dates recently. One with Luke Keil and one with Ava Lesniak...that's his girlfriend. :) They had the best time playing together while their mommies chatted. While at Aunt Tracy's house, Walker rolled off Luke's blanket onto his side. He did this all by himself. We were really proud and made a huge deal out of it.
Aunt Ashley came to visit Walker one day last week and he so enjoyed seeing her as well. He was such a good boy for her and even let us all eat at El Charro without being fussy! He's doing SO well in restaurants. We've gone out alot more than most new parents probably do. I didn't think we would, but we've really adjusted to that sort of lifestyle well. So has Walker.
He's loving his bathtime these days. He's so cute and just smiles and coos. He's really picked up the conversation lately too. He talks and talks. Othertimes you can tell he's trying so hard to get something out and he will move his mouth and his head for a few minutes and then out will come a loud shrill. Quite adorable. :) He's outgrown most of his newborn clothes...sniff...and is now in 0-3 months. We didn't have alot of climate suitable stuff for that age despite all the millions of outfits we have, so Noni went shopping and got him so new things. He looks so cute in them.
He's sleeping better these days. The past two nights he's gone from about 10:00 pm until around the 3:00 hour without eating. He hasn't slept that whole time, as he's been staying up a little later, but he's making progress. Then after that feeding he will sleep about 4 more solid hours before wanting to eat again. Even after just two nights like this, it's made a huge difference in how Mommy feels the next day! We are just so proud of his progress.
The gas/reflux seems to be flaring up again. Not sure if it's just gotten worse or if it's because we have a different brand of gripe water than we were using in the beginning. Nonetheless, he's been rather unhappy during his feedings the past few days. Ironically this is not affecting his nap or nighttime sleep at all. He's actually been sleeping better since they started acting up again.
As for an update on me and Cliff...things are going very well. We are adjusting to parenting and loving it. We make huge efforts to go out on dates and enjoy our time together. We've really had a blast going through this experience together. This past Saturday, Cliff's mom wanted to keep the baby for a few hours. We had good intentions of getting things done while he was at her house. But, we walked in the door and fell on the couch. That's where we stayed until it was time to go pick him up. We both slept soundly for about 2 hours, which evidently we really needed. Cliff's football is over, so he's getting home much earlier and he's really enjoying that. He hated missing out on so much of Walker's day during football season. My maternity leave will soon be coming to an end. I'm trying not to think about it. I believe I'm going back to work the week before Newton Co. Christmas break which is Dec. 10. I'm so sad but I know the little guy will be in a combination of good hands.
