Today has been an amazing day! We got up at 5:00 am and then again at 8:00 am. He hardly slept in between those three hours which means I hardly slept. But we did lay in bed at least. He has had no tummy aches today and his only fussy moments were when he simply wanted Mommy to hold him. We had lunch with Kathy and then came home and played for most of the afternoon. He stayed up a good bit of the day. He had one long late morning nap and then a few short naps here and there that were no more than 20-30 minutes a piece. Grandaddy dropped by and played for a while and then later Grandmommy came by on her way home from work. We are currently waiting on Noni to arrive...she's coming to spend the night. Around 6:30 I took Walker in his stroller for a walk around the neighborhood while we waited on Daddy to get home from taking his grad school test. We walked until Daddy got home and then Daddy walked with us. We had a great time talking and walking together. We sure miss Daddy when he's gone! Once we came in, Walker was ready to eat. I dared to fix him 5 oz...that's more than he's eaten in one sitting before. He ate the whole stinkin thing! This is the mid-evening feeding that he normally screams his way through and has the most terrible tummyache during...but tonight he ate in peace. There were no screams, no rumbling bellies and though he took his sweet time, he finished the bottle. What did I do different?? Before the feeding I gave him 1/2 teaspoon of gripe water and then put another 1/2 teaspoon in his bottle. His dosage is 1 teaspoon but he got antsy for his bottle after the first 1/2 so I just put the other half in the bottle. We've been using gripe water for a few days now and I've started to notice a gradual difference but tonight was outstanding! Just when I thought it couldn't get better I went to swaddle him because he was sleeping. I was going to skip the diaper change...that's when I realized he had "done something." So, I took him to change. This was so exciting b/c normally "doing something" requires lots of hard work and crying. Not tonight. I had no clue he'd even gotten the job done. The proof was in his smell. :) I changed him and then swaddled him up. Can't get better than that...until it did. He didn't try, not even once, to get out of his swaddle. This is SO not my child! He immediately went to sleep when we laid him down and we haven't heard a word from him in 40 minutes. I am SO proud of him.
Cliff and I had a good amount of couple time this weekend as we have family knocking down our door to keep the baby. We feel so blessed to be able to consistently make sure our marriage continues to receive the attention and priority that it needs and having so much help from so many people who love Walker so much is such a huge contributing factor to that. It's almost like we have started dating in highschool all over again, and how fun it is!
Yesterday he went to a Pumpkin Party at Ms. Lynn's house. She is Brinley's grammie and we had a good time. We picked a pumpkin and then decorated it with all the other kids. We got to bring our pumpkin home. Walker slept through the decorating but opened his eyes to proudly pose with the picture of MOMMY's decorated pumpkin and claim it as his own.
Daddy has his championship game on Thursday and we can't wait to go cheer him on as they battle it out with the Indian Creek Panthers to claim their victory as the NewRock champions for the 2nd year of Daddy's coaching career!
As I write this, I recognize that I wrote half of it in a voice that I would consider baby talk...from Walker's lips. So, I will go now to do adult things and remind myself of who I am besides Mommy...then again, that's exactly who I am now-Mommy...and I love every minute of it.
