Will's First Birthday Party

We had a "Very Hungry Caterpillar" birthday party to celebrate Will's first year of life.  It seemed fitting since Will is always "very hungry" and never seems to get satisfied.  We are still waiting on the tummy ache part of the story to surface.
I was very pleased with how the decorations turned out...  We had a caterpillar cupcake cake and butterfly cookies.
We made a timeline of Will's first year.  This was so fun to do!
We had a "small" party with just family and Will's baby sitters.  And by "small" I mean approximately 30 or so people.  That's about as small as we know how to go only inviting basically immediately family.  It was a great party.  Will was in a good mood, everything went off without a hitch and we had a really good time!
Here is our birthday boy before the guests starting arriving.  He's enjoying sitting on the hearth since he normally cannot get to it at all.
While the candles were being lit, Will decided it was time to dive in to his cake.  Maybe this has something to do with it not being his first trip around the block. :)  Walker got to blow out his candle.   He also got to open his presents.  Big brothers are such great helpers!
 Sweet birthday boy.
I asked for a bite and said "Ahhh" when I opened my mouth.  So, after ignoring my prompting for a minute or so, he started throwing his head back, opening his mouth and saying "Ahhh" too.  After realizing this got him a big reaction from his spectators, he decided to go all out.  :)  Will does anything for a laugh.  He loves to entertain and to be found entertaining.

This picture is blurry, but I love how it captures his enjoyment of smashing cake in my face.  He thought it was hilarious, and honestly so did I.  These are moments I will cherish forever.
So intrigued by mommy's new "look", he has no idea he looks the same!
Then he decided to share with anyone who wanted a taste.  :)
We are thankful for a fun and laid back party with some of the most important people in our lives celebrating with us.  Surely we are blessed beyond measure!
