We had a great Thanksgiving break. We started the week off right with a little time away for Cliff and I. We went away for just one night to Stone Mountain Park. We did Stone Mountain Christmas (way fun, try it) and then spent the night at the Evergreen Resort. (cheesy factoid...that's where we were crowned prom king and queen in 11th grade...) It was a wonderful time of bonding and we had a blast. Cory came to meet Cliff for golf the next morning (part of the surprise trip I had planned) and Angie came with him so that she and I could shop the day away. That we did! I was so productive that day with my Christmas shopping.
Throughout the week we did various things and stayed busy. I definitely don't feel like "break" adequately describes this past week but it's packed with memories.
Thanksgiving was wonderful...the best one I can remember in quite a while. Everything was just really laid back and stress free. We were able to fully enjoy time with all 3 families. It was just all very nice.
MacKenzie, my 12 year old cousin on Kathy's side of the family, has spent the weekend with us. We stayed at Dad's house Friday night after we did Thanksgiving with them and she shopped with Crystal and I Friday night. Today she decided to come home with Cliff, Walker and I and so we've had a great time together. She's great with Walker and he adores her. He even goes as far as to cry when she goes potty. My goodness. We tromped all over Covington tonight looking for a Christmas tree. We had planned all week to go to the tree farm today and it was raining to our disappointment. However, determined to have a tree before Thanksgiving break was over, we decided to alter our method a little and head to the pre-cut tree retailers to see what we could scrape up. Well, in our parts that means Home Depot, Walmart and Kroger. We finally found "the tree" at Kroger. (Mainly because that was the only place they were under shelter and DRY.) Cliff and I wrapped the tree in tarp (so as not to defeat the purpose of finding a dry tree in the pouring down rain) as MacKenzie tended to Walker and we threw it on the back of the truck. I felt a little cheated of our tree farm experience...it's such a fun time...but this was way fun in a silly kind of way too. We definitely have some memories from that experience!
Here are some pics from the past few days....Walker and MacKenzie with the Kroger tree...
And, Walker climbing his bed...
This was our attempt to make our own Christmas cards, but Walker just wanted to throw the cookies. He took one bite and across the living room the flew. Not sure what that says about the cookies... :) Hope Santa will like them when he comes!
Walker will repeat pretty much anything (in some form or fashion) these days. Some of his new words that are popping into my head are: David (my uncle), ride, horsey, raining, Winnie the Pooh (yes I have witnesses..he said it clear as day!), home, pizza (pe-ah), yeah (yaa) and Sprite (spuh-ite). All his words go up a few octaves on the last syllable.
The cutest news of the month is that he's learned the appropriate time to use the word "yeah" and he uses it to the fullest. I think it's his new word of choice and now he's started saying it twice (or three times) everytime he uses it. If you ask him any question to which his answer is yes, he will say "yaa, yaaaa" and it's the cutest thing. All week long, people have been asking him questions, just to hear him say it. His little eyes get so big and he nods his head (only once) and proudly proclaims "yaa, yaaa."
He's also started stringing together words to make short phrases. There have been many this past week but the one I can remember at the moment is "ride horsey." Such a cowboy. :)

Rain after Thanksgiving really thew a kink into Christmas tree plans for us too. I didn't know they sold them at Kroger!
I'm glad you guys had a nice Thanksgiving. And, I'm glad you and Cliff were able to get away for a night. Walker sure is a cute little booger! Before you know it he will be talking your head off.... constantly! And just remember, it really doesn't matter about the tree. After all, the only thing Walker cares about is taking all of the ornaments (aka toys) off.
