One more day until Thanksgiving Break! Wooooooooooooooooooo! It will be a needed week off to relax and enjoy family time. I enjoy and appreciate my job and willingly accept God's call on my life to be a working mom, but I will say that I do feel a little more anxious these days about wishing to be a stay at home mom. With a kid as cute and fun as mine, who wouldn't be??
"Rarrrr" is what we currently hear off and on throughout the day. The mean face accompanies it. By now, you know the face. :) It took us a while but we finally put two and two together when I was in the bathroom the other day and he pointed at the lion on his towel (jungle themed bathroom) and said "Rarrrr!" Turns out, Judy had taught him. Imagine that. She teaches him so much.
Cliff was home sick from work the other day and camped out in the bedroom for most of the day so as to not expose Walker and to get some rest. But he was amazed at what he could hear through the monitor. He said I wouldn't believe the conversations that he and Judy have. She talks with him like he's a little adult. Yes, I would believe it...she kept me and my brothers when we were small and she was my kindergarten teacher. Why do you think we picked her?? I thank God for Judy. We are truly so blessed in our childcare situation.
Walker has this funny little laugh. I can't explain it. It has evolved from Woody Wood Pecker to something else. If I had to type it out it would look something like this "Huuuhhuuuhhhuuuuhhhh." Cory and Crystal said it was my laugh, but I don't think so. My laugh isn't quite so adorable. We can't help but laugh out loud everytime we hear him do it. It's very different than the laugh he's had a majority of his little life.
He has been running from me lately when it's time for a diaper change or time for PJ's. This is a change because for a while, he was bringing me diapers and asking for a change. Now, he just likes to be naked. He appears to be rather fond of streaking. It's not uncommon to have naked baby races around our house nightly.
He continues with the new words and is using them more in "conversation" lately than before. Some recent words from this week are: Skirrllll (squirrel) but today it turned into "kirrrllll" so, we'll see. Also, "lolon" for lotion...and yes, he continues to be a lotion junkie, which brings me to the next point. Tonight, while sitting on the couch with Cliff he chewed teeth marks into his Aveeno baby lotion tube. It's squishy and now when you squeeze it, lotion comes out from various holes-watering pot style. Nice. The other new word that comes to mind is ribbit. He said this while reading "Brown Bear" with his Dad the other night.
Another fun event of the night was that he peed on the carpet in the hallway. I undressed him for bath and turned to turn on the bath water. Of course, he took off on the naked run like normal. When he returned, he stood in the newly cleaned laundry room (thanks to my wonderful MAMAW) and peed on the carpet in the hallway. It was as if he was aiming particularly for that spot and he watched the whole thing. I said "no no no!" in a mommy tone and he reached down and put his finger in it. What else? Then he grabbed his "thing" (name still to be determined) and ran into the bathroom. When he got in the tub he reached down for it and said "no no." HA! What a funny kid. The other night in the tub he pointed at it and said "geck." Who knows...
He's been up early several days this week and we always put him in our bed. Yesterday morning Cliff got a case of the coughs at this point and everytime he would cough, Walker would reach over and pat him on the back. Too cute. I don't think we do this to him, so who knows where he got it from. Nothing surprises me anymore. Nothing.
He's on top of everything these days. It's amazing what he can do with his toes. They are little tools with endless possiblities. He's a monkey now more than ever. He also likes jumping from things. Too bad at this point he has no fear. We'll be in the ER very soon, I'm sure.
He got in "BIG" trouble tonight, as we called it. He went behind the baby gate again (why do we even have these things up anymore?) in the playroom and got where he wasn't supposed to. This is largely our fault because we still haven't cleaned the small area behind it, but he's got to learn what no means!! Anyway, when Cliff went to get him out he picked him up and Walker bent his head down and BIT his Daddy on the hand. Bad, bad move. (This is the first bite we've really experienced. He bit once when he first started getting teeth but at that point, he didn't understand...) So, Cliff popped his little hand. Hard. This was by no means the first time he's been popped. But this time was different and we all knew it. He whimpered a little instead of laughing which is what he normally does. He didn't even try to pop back this time. For a while there I was wondering if we'd have to consider another method since he was so inclined to pop back. This time, he held his hand with his other hand and whimpered and then went about his business. (after a nice hug from Daddy and a reminder that he will always be loved but that he has to mind...) Whew. Glad that part of our evening is over!
He's started involving his "friends" in his play. Penguin often rides on the motorcycle these days. He will place penguin on the motorcycle and then pull him around. Brown bear and penguin also enjoy many trips down the slide and through the basketball goal. Pablo likes to play hide-n-go seek in the oven drawer, the fridge, the cabinets and the guest bedroom.
I have a surprise planned for Cliff's birthday. It's not until Dec 3 but the surprise comes before that. I can't post about it here. He knows there is something, but he also actively participates in the blog. So, mum's the word. I did slip up tonight and I was sooo upset with myself because I've done SO good. He's so hard to surprise because he is SUCH a snoop. He hates surprises but I am determined to pull this off. I totally wasn't thinking in a conversation with his sister on the phone and told her that Dad and Kathy would have Walker Sunday night. Ears perked up. He's been trying to figure out the date of the surprise for a week and a half now. That was music to his little snoopy ears. Oh well, that's all he knows...
I can't end this post without bragging on my Mamaw. She came to my house today and did EVERY BIT of my laundry. She actually ended up taking it to the laundry mat if that tells you anything about how far behind I was. The only dirty laundry in our house is what we are currently wearing and that's no exaggeration!! She also cleaned up and organized my laundry room. She's coming back tomorrow to work in my house while I'm at work. Gotta love being loved. We are so blessed!!

I just love reading about all the new things Walker is doing these days - good and bad! We went through a biting spell, but we bit him back twice and that stopped it all. Oh, and tell your Mamaw that we live right around the corner. Our house is a mess :)
I enjoyed this post.... especially the "pee in the floor" part. You have no idea how many times Logan has done that. Trust me, they do get over that stage.
Glad you guys are doing well.
Our discipline has changed many times over the course of five years. Spanking and smacking him on the hand quit working a while back. Logan started saying "If you hit me then next time I'm mad I'm going to hit you!"
Now we are sending him to his room and telling him he has to stay until he can come out and apologize. This is really working right now. It seems to hurt his feelings more than anything else. And then of course, we love on him. So far, so good! Every child is different and it just seems to be trial and error.
Have fun with that sweet boy!!!
I so know that laugh. Jamie has started doing it when something amuses her. Jamie still hasn't picked up on "no" yet. sigh.
