So I Don't Forget...

I have asked myself on many occasions why I enjoy blogging so much? What is it about this notion of writing (typing) things down that appeals to me so much? There are times, when I literally feel magnetically DRAWN to the keyboard. I've come up with 2 reasons. One-I'm terrified of forgetting. All of the things I blog about are so precious to me but I have a terrible memory. I am so afraid that one day I won't remember one of these things...and sometimes the thought of it makes my heart feel like it's broken in half. Two-In the event that anything were to ever happen to me, and Walker was left without his mommy, I would want him to have something that shows him just how much he meant to me, to let him know that he made my world spin, that he made my cloudy days, sunny and that he was absolutely enough. Perfect to me in every way. It's important to me that he feels absolutely adored by me every single day of his life. It just is. So, I write about the little things...the things that probably only Cliff and I and a few select others care about. But, they are big things. Enormous things in his little life...and I don't want to forget. And more importantly, I want him to know that they MATTER to me. When I was rushed into c-section I was flooded with drugs that don't allow me to remember very much at all of my first few hours with Walker. However, thanks to my incredible husband, I have every second of it on video. Therefore, even through the forgetting, I get to remember. It helps. So, I'll write.

Walker continues to love his slide. He has now learned to go down belly first. This is especially funny when his shirt comes up and the friction of skin on slide causes him to flop down, feet over head. I'm a mom of a little boy...I'm used to him getting "hurt", the slide topple is just funny now. However, I don't have a picture because everytime it DOES happen, I DO rush to his side to make sure he's alright...

I see basketball in his future. Stretch.... He LOVES to play basketball. We have a toy crate that we recently put together. It has a basketball, football and soccer ball on it. Walker was holding the basketball and walked over to the toy crate. He held the basketball down beside the "painting" of the basketball on the crate and said "dis." So cute. He is good at transfer of knowledge.

Oh! And I just realized you can see that toy cart in this corner of this picture. :) I guess he got tired of stretching to reach the goal because he pushed his Blue's Clue chair over and did this. I've never seen him stand in this chair before. He has such good problem solving skills!

This is one of his favorite toys. He especially loves it when Cliff or I get in there with him...and YES, we fit. Barely, but we fit. I do have a picture or two of us in there with him...but they are a little embarrassing...so I'll leave it at this.

Here he is clapping for himself after saying the word "tee." (tree)

Just a few other things he's done lately...I'm working at making my posts shorter but it never seems to happen...and I've even picked up the pace lately on posting hoping they will get shorter. No such luck. :)

He likes to touch the "deeah" in the game room. (Deer). He likes for Cliff to lift him up (I'm too short) and let him pet his nose. Then he says "deeah!" and claps for himself. What can I say? Encouragement works wonders for talking!!

He goes to the fridge anytime he is hungry now and picks out what he wants. He will pull on the fridge and whine (or scream) until we open it up for him. Then, he gets what he wants...watermelon, cheese, etc and walks to his tray. If we give him something other than what he's picked out, he won't eat it. I'm telling you-he knows what he wants! Today Judy said that he kept trying to tell her he wanted something and was pointing and mumbling all sorts of things. Everything she offered him, he shook his head no to. Finally she said he stepped on the ledge, stretched his little arms and got a small container of watermelon out, climbed down and proudly proclaimed "dis!" So, he got some watermelon. :)

Judy returned Tuesday after our week off and me being home with Walker on Monday. She missed him so much. She said he's her bit of sunshine. :) She told me that he walked around showing her everything "new" since she'd last been there. It's amazing to me that he knows what those things are. She said he pointed to our new family picture hanging on our livingroom wall and said "dis" as well as taking her to the playroom to show off his new room, toys and the deer. She said he pointed at every single thing that was new that morning when he woke up. I guess he just wanted to make sure she didn't miss it. He's so observant.

We bought some of those suction bowls. Well, he has seen us dump his food on his tray for months. I guess old habits die hard. He doesn't want a plate or a bowl...and suction bowls aren't Walker proof. We'll just leave it at that.

We had an encounter with the vacuum again. I was in the guest bedroom...where it has remained since the first run-in. Cliff was in the hallway and Walker tiptoed into the room, all the while cautiously watching the monster. He'd step in and then back up. He did this several times and we were getting a kick out of the brave child. Well, he came really close to it and even touched the tube that connects to the detachable part. So, I reached up to turn the vacuum a little toward him, thinking we were overcoming a fear. Wrong move. Oh my goodness. He clamped on to me (had to go past the vacuum to do that) and started screaming hysterically. I pushed the vacuum away and reassured him that everything was ok. He started pulling on me to leave. I put him down and he grabbed my shirt sleeve and literally pulled on me with all his little might. He wasn't leaving me in there. My child was protecting me. I know it for sure. He's such a caregiver.

And...I have to wonder...will I EVER go to the bathroom in peace again???? How many times can a toilet be flushed in one short pee stop? Seriously.

yes. suction bowls still dont work at our house either.... and even though I cant stand it, I really do not care if she eats the food off the table/tray or out of a plate -- just as long as she eats :)

And the answer is..... no.... you will not have peace in the bathroom again for quite some time. Logan is five and still CANNOT leave me alone in there. And if I lock the door (when Scott is home) he bangs on it a million times while hollering at the top of his lungs.... "HURRY I NEED YOU NOW!"
