DACK DACK

At Walmart today I told Walker he could pick out a new toy. He gets to do this basically anytime we go to Walmart. Typically, he picks a ball. We have a gazillion balls. Today I was determined to get something different, so I was showing him the Fisher Price pianos, drums, etc...
He had other ideas. He was busy leaning out of the cart on the other side screaming (where the entire store could hear him) DACK DACK! DACK DACK! DACK DACK! over and over and over...
I wondered what in the world he was trying to tell me, and as if on cue, he started pointing. So, I followed his little point and it was aimed straight at none other than...Dora's backpack! I had no idea he knew how to say this word (or almost knew how to say it...). He's loved the backpack part of the Dora show for months. He is drawn to the TV when it comes on. If he's in another room and he hears Backpack start singing, he runs for the TV.
So, we got Backpack. When Cliff saw it he said "You got him a DORA toy????" Hey-I tried. Backpack, Backpack...

I thought with having a boy, I'd avoid the issues about what to wear and what not to wear. Apparently I was wrong. Walker now shakes his head "no" at anything he doesn't want to wear and when we finally show him something he does want to wear, he will reach out and grab it with a grin. Wasn't expecting this.

Watching him play with Cliff each night continues to just be one of the best parts of my day. Cliff comes home and literally plays with him until it's time for bed. They play so hard and they are both so exhausted when they are done. Sometimes I play with them, other times I just let them play. It's such a special time for them both and I've spent the entire afternoon with Walker at that point...
My favorite part is that Walker just squeals with laughter the entire time. I know his sides have to ache from it. He will squeal DAAADEEE in a high pitched voice many times during this charade.
Cliff honestly is the best father. I'm not just saying that because he's my husband. He literally goes above and beyond with Walker. He has from day one. We are both so blessed to have him in our lives...

More and more words come out daily. It amazes me everything that he has a word for now when just a few weeks ago, he was hardly muttering anything other than mama and dada. My, how things change. Today in the car on the way home he was chanting "DORA DORA DORA" over and over. Silly kid.
Wawer is his new word for "water". He likes to hold his head in the faucet as water flows out into the tub and then lift it out and cackle as he proclaims "WAWER!"

He says "payroom" for playroom. I've only heard this twice...

He's also making sounds for his motorcycle, cars and trucks. He's really started to notice those things outside. He always names them when he sees them. Come to find out, Judy takes him to the edge of the neighborhood to watch the buses leave the school and watch all the cars and trucks drive by. Apparently he waves to them all. I had someone tell me recently that my kid waved at them on Dixie Rd. I thought "When was he on Dixie Rd???" and then it hit me. :)

And finally, the moment of the week that has melted my heart. Monday night we were getting ready for bed. Walker was sound asleep in his bed. We had just talked about how we "missed" him. We do this alot, more often than not, we have this conversation before bed. This particular night I guess the emotion overwhelmed Cliff. We got the bed ready and fluffed, lights dimmed, etc for me to read before bed and Cliff disappears for a minute. Over the baby monitor I hear whispers..."Daddy's here...I love you..." and a few seconds later, in walks Cliff with Walker sound asleep in his shoulder. He laid him in the bed with us where he snuggled up in between us and all was well with the world.

awwww, so sweet!!! And no, you are right, you totally don't avoid the being picky about clothes with a boy. I think Logan is worse than a girl. He has his favorites and that is it!!! The other day he wore his "best" shirt to school (according to Logan). It was soooo small.... I was dying. He INSISTED on wearing it anyway. He said, "Mama just stop worrying bout me... I look good!" And that was that!
I'm glad y'all are doing well =)
