So much to say, so little time. Short of updating this thing every day (which I do not have time to do...) I don't know how to stay on top of all things concering Walker. He's just doing so much new everyday and is so smart that it amazes me! I try to keep a running draft in my email of things I want to make sure to include in my next blog post, but I always forget...
Walker appears to be a book worm and I couldn't be more thrilled. He loves, loves, loves to read. He will bring me book after book and plop down in my lap. He usually sits very still and lets me read the entire book to him, word for word. One of the only times he's still. More recently, he can pick out a book if you give him a hint. If we either say a line from the book (like I've mentioned previously about Brown Bear) he can go and get it. He does this consistenly correct with about 6 of his books.
With the brains comes the boy. He's definitely a boy. Don't let the reading fool you. This child loves to be outside playing and getting into stuff more than he likes anything else. He's learned to wear tennis shoes. He has a cute little pair of grey Nike's with a red swoosh and he loves them. When he wants to go outside he will bring them to me. If he can find random socks laying around (which there usually are in our house) he will bring those too. He plops down on the floor and lifts up one foot indicating that it's time to put on shoes. This amazes me. He's learned so quickly that if he lifts his leg, it makes socks and shoe time easier.
He is still hiding anything and everything but these days I think it's more about placement. He loves to put things places. He knows exactly where he puts them. Doggy, doggy where's your bone, style...
Today he remembered the trash can. He'd gotten over this for a while...but this afternoon he threw his cup into the trash more times than I can count and I was constantly retrieving it for him. Like I've said before, he learns so much just from our everyday actions.
Saturday was a great day. We got up at Walker o'clock and made muffins. Walker had his muffin in his chair and Cliff was having his on the couch. When Walker got out of his chair, he was just doing his morning rounds and he walked up to Cliff, took his muffin, walked away and started eating it. We should have used this as a teaching moment, but we didn't. We just laughed. Silly boy. We played the morning away and then he took a really long morning nap. We had plans to go out to lunch and we were both getting hungry. When he'd been asleep almost 3 hours, Cliff started throwing books from our couch into the kitchen to make loud noises, in hopes of waking Walker up. Silly Daddy. It worked though and we all went to eat at El Charro. Then we played the afternoon away until Walker snuggled up next to me in our bed and we took a nice nap together. So sweet. Those are the kinds of days I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
When Walker sees his cow or if you ask him what the cow says he will saw "maaaaw" which is his version of "moo." But, he will only do it the first time and then won't do it again until some time has passed and you ask him again. In fact, twice today when he picked up his cow he said "mama." Not sure who taught him that but it's NOT funny!!
He's recently started noticing that people in pictures are people he knows. He will point to a picture and identify "mama" "dada" and "papa." We didn't teach him this. I do know Judy shows him the pictures while we are at work and talks about us. I just think it's neat that he recognizes that we are in a picture.
Today, Mom kept him. She said the same episode of Dora came on 3 different times...Nick Jr and Noggin flip flop their schedule and we often catch the same show a time or two. She said it was the episode when Dora rides a train. Each time that it was on and Dora got on the train, mom (and Uncle Jeremy) said Walker would climb up on his tricycle/rocker toy he got for his birthday and rock back and forth like he was riding a train. Smart boy.
He's extremely ticklish these days too. He will giggle and giggle if you so much as dig your finger into his body. He's ticklish everywhere, including on his little butt.
He fell out of a wagon today and conked his head on cement in our driveway. He has a large knot and a small scrape. I was all concerned and wondering if we should have him checked out. It happened right before Cliff got home and when I showed him he said "Are you kidding me?" meaning "You are completely overreacting." :)
Walker's been digging groves into his bed with his teeth. We aren't quite sure when this is happening because we never actually catch him in the act. But, it's either after we lay him down and leave the room or before he decides to let us know he's awake in the mornings. Speaking of waking in the morning...he's started calling me by name "MaaaMa!" I hear over the monitor and again if I'm not in there quickly enough...and every now and again, if it takes me too long, "DAAADA!" Who can resist???

So some similarities - tickilish butt and the knawing on the bed. Cute and annoying, all rolled into adorable packages. :-)
As to the bump... Jamie had a fall that resulted in a knotted and I called the doc and teh doc said as long as the knot goes out, it means it isn't going into the brain, which is good. They said to watch the pupils to make sure they are equally dialted for the next few hours. If there is no vomiting and they have no problems with drinking, then they are fine. Good to know.
Ok, so I had SO many typos in that comment that I think I should go to bed....
