Big boy things

Last week was the first official week of our new child care routine. It went off without a hitch. Walker did great. Monday he played with Ms. Lynn and Brinley. I dropped him off that morning and even though I trust Lynn completely I was a little sad leaving him in a new place. But he flashed that award winning smile at her and I knew all was well. He was flirting up a storm with Brinley before I even left. They played on the slide and swings and Brinley taught him about germs. She even cried when he had to take his nap because she wanted to keep playing with him. Tuesday and Wednesday my mom (Noni) kept him. She's kept him so much that he is very used to her. He's always so happy to see her! I was happy that even though I didn't have to take him anywhere, he was awake before I left so I got to spend a few minutes with him. There is nothing like being the first person he sees when he wakes up. It's one of the most touching experiences of my life...and it never gets old. In fact, it only gets better. Thursday he stayed with my Dad (Papa) and they went to see ducks and chickens. He kicked his legs in excitment and Friday he stayed with Angela, Casey, Ansley and Carlie. Carlie is only a few months older than Walker and they had the best time together. Again, I was slightly sad about leaving him somewhere "new" but he knew just what I needed and smiled once again an award winning smile as soon as he saw Angela. It's so hard to go to work everyday and leave him behind, but knowing he's without outstanding people who love him makes it much easier.

He seems to be getting into a new routine which I figured would happen once we started our new routine. He adjusts to new things very well. God has blessed us with a child who loves to sleep like we do. He's still sleeping great at night. I love the fact that he sucks his thumb. Not only is it cute, but he puts himself right back to sleep with it. He's sleeping without his swaddle these days and doing well. He likes to use his right hand to "hold" his left hand while he sucks that thumb, so we tried him without the swaddle and it worked!

We went for a walk several times this week and discovered that Walker no longer needs his infant seat in his stroller. He did great sitting the "big boy way" and was excited to take in the new view.

He seems to be getting a little bored with his swing and bouncy seat. Lately, he will tuck his feed under the tray of his swing (pictured). If I leave it unlatched, he will kick it up in the air and grab for it with his hands when it comes in front of his face. He's an active little bundle!

Cliff put together Walker's jumperoo a few nights ago. Walker loves it! He's so easily stimulated by all the colors and sights! He gets so excited and starts to kick his legs and flaps his arms.

He found his toes tonight. I've been waiting on him to do this but for some reason it's taken him a while. He grabbed ahold of them and didn't want to let go. :)

Well, it's late. Cliff's asleep and so is Walker. I should be too.
