Walker is totally obsessed with his Daddy. I read a book over the summer and one of the chapters talked about how around the age of 3, little boys start favoring their dads over their moms, preferring them in almost every situation...unless of course they are hurt or sick. There are some things ONLY moms will suffice for! For a few months, I've noticed this coming on...but in our here and now, it's being lived out to the extreme!
Walker wants to do EVERYTHING Cliff does...and I mean everything. Some things I cannot even share. :) But some of the things I can share are that he wants to play the guitar, play football, watch football, watch golf, play "real" golf, watch America's Funniest Home Videos, Cliff does it...Walker wants to do it.
The other night at Wendy's he wanted to order a hamburger. I said to him something like "you never order a hamburger, are you sure?" He said "yes, I want a hamburger because it will make me just like Daddy!" And so I ordered him a hamburger. (and he gobbled it down...)
He makes "just like Daddy" statements all the time. At lunch with some friends the other day he said "I am not your little boy anymore. When I grow up I will be a Daddy, just like Daddy!"
I could go on and on...but since I'm tired, I won't. But, the whole purpose of this post was the story that follows. I was using the restroom (if you read my blog, you must just make yourself ok with knowing things like this about me...) and when I came out, I couldn't find him. The door to the house was wide open, so I assumed Cliff had gotten home from football practice and he and Walker were outside. It was later than normal because he had to line off the field. But, when I went out there, Cliff was no where to be found...only Walker...in his BOXERS...playing golf in the front yard. He'd gone in Cliff's golf bag, gotten a tee, a ball and a club. He was knocking the ball into our across the street neighbor's yard. I, of course, freaked out and lectured him on why he couldn't go out by himself...which by the way, he ALREADY knows... He was very apologetic and even got upset because he saw how upset I was. He said "but mommy, I did it because I want to be like Daddy and hit golf balls just like him." And there you have it. Oh...and as far as the picture, this was a few minutes after we handled the fact that he'd done something wrong...don't worry, I didn't just take pics and "encourage" the offense. :)
