Well, it's been so long since I've done anything besides post a song or poem on here. I've taken some time to work through things and decided today was a good day to return to the blog.
We've had a wonderful past few days. This Christmas held so many special memories for us and we are so blessed to have been able to spend time with all of our families over the past few days...and even see a few special friends in there as well.
We had a very busy few days before Christmas and didn't get to spend a whole lot of time together, but right before Christmas Eve, we managed to squeeze in a good bit of quality time and really had a chance to just reflect on where God has brought us to and how wonderfully He has blessed us. Through our conversations with one another and conversations with family members over the past few days, we believe more than ever in the healing power of Jesus Christ. We have come to realize that healing isn't sudden and it doesn't occur over night, but it comes through walking daily with God and continuously accepting all that He offers and promises us. As the Christmas season passes, we recognize that one of the greatest gifts we've been given is the love and support we've had from family and friends, but more importantly the unconditional love and presence of our Savior in our lives. We are blessed. More blessed than we could have ever imagined.
Now...on to details about our week. I was able to do spend some good quality time with a few friends this week. I do so enjoy my time with my girlfriends. I was able to spend a few days with Kim...whom I do work with, but rarely get an opportunity to spend an extended amount of time with outside of work and also my church friend/college friend Angie who's growth in the Lord and in herself has truly inspired me over the past few months. Thursday night I was fortunate to be able to spend the evening with my adorable niece, Audrey. This is Jenny and Ryan's baby...I mean, little girl. Jenny and Ryan are such dear friends of ours and it was so neat to have Audrey away from them and see the little pieces of them in her. She's such a smart little girl.
Friday evening, Crystal (my brother Stephen's fiance) was in town and we all went to Tokyo...one of our favorite places to eat! We like to eat. Saturday was spent with my husband and also doing last minute Christmas errands. Sunday we had church. Cliff taught our class because our "teacher" was not going to be there. He really enjoyed being back in the teaching seat and I fear he remembered how much he loved teaching highschool...so I'm thinking I need to cherish our time in the young married class as much as I can while it lasts! He did such a great job and I never cease to be amazed at the man of God he is. He is such an encouragement to me and I can't lie, I'm so proud to be his wife when he's leading others in the Lord...of course, I'm always proud to be his wife! Sunday afternoon we attended the Christmas Eve service at our church with Cliff's family and Cory. Then met up with the rest of our family who had attended the service at the church my Dad pastors and headed to Aunt Delores' for Christmas with Kathy's side of the family. Lots and lots of food... Then we returned to Dad and Kathy's house for "Santa" with them. They of course went overboard and Cliff and I got way too much! Christmas morning we woke up and did our own present exchange then quickly headed to Cliff's parents for the annual breakfast with us and the Sammons. After everyone left we did "Santa" with his family (once again...OVERBOARD!) and then left for Mamaw and Papaw's for more food and fun. Papaw is not in great health, so we are very thankful that we had time with him today. Later we rushed to my Aunt Cindy's new house for Christmas with my mom's side of the family. We have so many great family members and really treasured our time with them over the past few days. Of course, mom and Barry also went overboard with our gifts...I've decided though, I'm not spoiled...just blessed. :) This is what my Daddy tells me and it's always been my belief that Daddy knows best!
So, here we find ourselves worn out, yet not able to go to sleep. We're enjoying laying all our gifts out and admiring them all and talking once again about how everyone gets us way too much...but of course, we love it!
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and were able to focus on what today is really about though all the craziness...
Merry Christmas! (oops...is 12:45 A.M. now, so Merry day after Christmas!)
